Dedication for Gene
2009
Gene was diagnosed two years ago with terminal cancer and told to go home and get his affairs in
order. No medical intervention was given. He is still with us today, largely attributed to his own
desire to not be part of his diagnosis and took his treatment into his own hands. Choosing a path of
holistic and natural methods in this world. His choices were limited, and he has created the
difference. My uncle, my hero.

“I'm just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all business in my suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future's my responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been to strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.”
Lyrics from American Solider by Toby Keith
When thinking about what to write for this page, this song by Toby Keith came into my mind. This
page is for my Uncle Gene. Gene is fighting a battle right now with cancer, with the same positive
messages that this song also gives. He is positive; he is strong in his beliefs. My belief also is that he
will persevere and win this battle. My beliefs also are that where two or more are gathered the power
of prayer takes quantum leaps. As you travel this page, and others we only ask that you say a silent
prayer for those that have take on the challenge of the fight, and for the hero’s here that have gone
on to a different level of understanding and existence. Gene is a husband, father, brother, uncle,
grandfather, great-grandfather that still sees each day with a new vision. As he holds his vision with
clarity and the belief in the power of healing that he has requested, hold a space of heart felt energy
for him, and all those that live each day, creating their vision. Even at times if that vision is born of
the battle in their life.

Update:
Gene spread his wings again in November 2010. Gene taught myself so many lessons during this last
years on this earth, always a fighter and assistance to others. In his 74th year going into battle with
his diagnosis, he took control of his destiny - studied ways to bring better health to himself and
taking a charge in his remaining time. Counseled others in the midst of cancer telling them of hope
and being a witness in this world not only of his own struggle but also kick starting others to take
control. Gene took the holistic approach to cancer to his heart and mission. You are and were loved
Gene, fly high and shower that love always!
Love you,
Linda
