Albert and God
                      Albert and God

There once was an exceptional scientist named Albert, who loved to research all kinds of science, both
very
old and new. He would study science from Egyptians, Greeks, Aztecs, and modern science for countless
projects in his free time. His true passion in his free time was to invent a machines using both very old and
new science.

Through his studies he came up with the idea for a machine that could take you anywhere you wanted to
go. The destination was controlled with by wearing a headpiece and could actually be used to activate
the
machine and make a portal back to the machine merely by thinking about it.

He never really talked to anyone about it but he was too thrilled about his machine to keep it to himself
so
he talked to a research assistant at work about it.
Albert eagerly said, “Tom, can I trust you to keep a secret?”
Tom looked up in surprise and replied, “Sure Albert, what is up?”
Albert just smile and said, “Tom I have finished a new invention that will change the world. My invention
will allow a person to make a portal to go anywhere or anytime they want and all they have to do is wear
a
headpiece. I haven’t tested it out yet but by my research it should work as planned.”

Tom surprised look turned to an eager one and replied, “Well give it a whirl sometime and test it out. Be
glad to help you out with any problems you have with it and we can put it on the market together.” Tom
had always wanted to get on the ground floor of something so that he could get rich and retire young.

A month passed and Albert was surprised when Tom came up to him and asked him why he never tried
his
machine out.
Albert solemnly replied, “Tom, I don’t really know where I would go and I am not even sure if it would
work. I would hate getting my hopes up and just failing at it. I just have doubts so I haven’t even turned
it
on yet and even seen if it works”

Tom smiled with a sad look in his eyes, he thought this was his chance for fame and fortune but he
figured
Albert was right. This machine probably didn’t work and he wasn’t really sure how he could even get it to
work.

Albert left the machine alone for months until one night, when he was channel surfing on cable. He saw a
show on one of the bible networks talking about heaven and how wonderful it was. The part that always
irritated him was how the preacher kept saying you went after you died. With as great as Heaven
sounded,
Albert didn’t want to wait till he was dead.

It gave him a clever idea about his machine, he might not know exactly where heaven was but if you can
find it when you are dead then he his mind might know the location.  So Albert turned it on, grabbed the
headpiece and watched as a portal of light appeared before him. He half expected to walk through the
portal and just walk right through it onto to the back of the machine but something compelled him to
walk
through it. Albert took a deep breath and counted one… two… three… and whoosh.
Albert was standing on a path in a hilly grassy valley, and no matter what direction he looked he saw
living
mythological creatures he read in all his research of ancient cultures. He met with friends and family that
had passed on, one by one while he walked on and on. Occasionally He saw angels above him and
gardens
like he had never imagined that existed. He told all he met about his machine and they all replied that he
should bring others here that bring people here was the purpose of his machine. After pulling himself
back
through his portal home he went to bed and dreamed of all he saw.

The next day he went to work and told the Tom what he had done and to his dismay got a look of non-
belief.
Tom stated with a look of irritation, “That his machine was based on science and that there was no way
he
could have gone to heaven because heaven wasn’t a place. It was an idea churches liked to talk about so
people behave.”

Albert sat for a while thinking about this, then got an exciting idea and invited the Tom over that night to
prove it.  The assistant agreed, figuring he would prove himself right by it all not working and would have
some fun rubbing it into Albert’s face.

That night Albert took Tom to heaven, and showed him all the marvels he had seen the night before. The
assistant loved it so much Albert had to drag him back to the portal. The second they were home though
the
assistant just stated he must have fallen asleep and been hypnotized by the machine.

With a heavy heart Albert said good night to the assistant and then went to bed. Saddened, Albert went
to
work the next day and got another assistant to come over and try out the machine. After the trip
though, the
assistant’s reaction was the same, stating he must have fallen asleep. This happened over and over again
by
assistants, family, and friends, each stating that they had fallen asleep.

So one night Albert went to heaven alone and spoke directly to god asking where he was going wrong. He
was bringing all these people to heaven, yet the second they were back on earth none would accept
where
they had been.

God laughed and pointed to a large pile of scrolls next to him.
He said, “I have given the earth guides about me, heaven, histories, how they should live and more. They
have blue prints of how they should be, yet many ignore them saying they are fantasies, made up to
scare
them into behaving. At night I show them in their dreams heaven and countless worlds showing them
that
it isn’t a fantasy, yet they still don’t believe. You can tell them things, show them things, and prove things
right before their eyes, but it doesn’t mean they will believe them.”

God looked down at Albert and began again, “Albert you have brought people here and showed them,
and
ask why they don’t believe, it is their own right not to believe, and it is free will. Don’t let it get you down
though. Keep bringing people here because someday there will be one that believes and they will bring
others to believe it as well. I am God and I can’t force people to believe, but I can never stop trying Albert,
and neither can you. You can change the life of a person who will change other lives. Those that need to
believe will believe and the others hopefully will need to believe someday.”

With a new drive in his heart Albert went home and began to advertise his amazing machine and each
that
came were none believers until one day when a tear stained woman barely out of their teens knocked on
the
door. With tears in her eyes she asked if the rumors were true about being able to go to heaven and see
god.
I nodded as she began to tell me about her years of being on drugs, drinking, and prostitution. She
stated
she needed to see heaven now because she feared she would never see it when she dies.

Albert took her to heaven and by her request, to see God. She dropped to her knees before god and
cried for
a second chance. She sobbed as she said, “God please give me a second chance. I have drunk alcohol,
smoked, done drugs and been a prostitute so I could keep doing all those things. I have done nearly
every
sin a person can do and I know I have no right to beg for a second change. I promise I can do better.”

God told her, “I love you but I can’t give what is already in her. You must use your free will to change and
have a second chance.”
She then got to her feet and nodded thinking about what he said. God then turned to me and gave me a
nod
and I now knew what he had meant before. Those that need to believe will believe and the others
hopefully
will need to believe someday. I took the woman home and we said our good byes.

I haven’t seen that woman since that day but I swear I once saw her in a news report about homes for
women who need second chances after alcohol, drugs, or prostitution. The woman said, “People just
need to
find a second chance already within them.”

I couldn’t help but to feel it was worth going through all the nonbelievers to get to just one believer. Just
one person can change the world.
In my head I also heard, “Those that need to believe will believe and the others hopefully will need to
believe someday.”
